Walking practice, without the fear of falling
The hardest part of relearning to walk is not strength. It is confidence — and the fall risk that makes both patient and therapist cautious. Conventional options each impose a limit: parallel bars confine the patient to a few metres and load the arms; a walker changes the gait pattern itself; and manual support puts the therapist's own back at risk while occupying both their hands.
GaitAssist removes the fall from the equation. The patient is secured in a body-weight support harness suspended from a ceiling-mounted track. They can attempt full over-ground walking, sit-to-stand and balance work along a route through the department — hands free, upright, and unable to fall.
For the therapist, that changes the session entirely. Instead of physically holding a patient upright, they are free to observe the gait, correct the pattern and progress the difficulty.

What is a ceiling track gait training system?
A ceiling-mounted rail system with a moving trolley and a body-weight support harness. The patient is secured in the harness and supported from above, so they can attempt walking, sit-to-stand and balance work without the risk of falling. The therapist is freed from physically holding the patient and can focus on correcting gait.
Why use a ceiling track instead of parallel bars or a walker?
Parallel bars restrict the patient to a fixed short path and require them to bear weight through the arms. A ceiling track supports the patient from above along a route through the department, so gait can be practised over a realistic distance, hands-free, with fall risk removed.
Who is it used for?
